Aces of Spades" is a fiction novel about two black high school students in a predominantly white institution who find themselves targeted by a faceless character determined to destroy their hard work and success. Although I'm not a fan of high school dramas, this book managed to pique my interest with its great suspense and constant sense of foreboding. However, it took a while for the story to really get going. In the first half of the novel, I found it difficult to care about the main characters, which was disappointing. The second half, on the other hand, was full of heavy and intense moments, but it would have been better if it had been fleshed out a bit more. There were many strings left untied with some of the main characters and the people around them. Overall, I enjoyed the story's concept, and I initially thought it was a Netflix show, which it isn't. However, I believe it would make a great Netflix show. I would rate it 3.5 stars.
